This course encompasses the properties, detection, measurement, identification and biological effects of radioactive materials and ionic radiation on organism. Biochemical, environment and chemicals factors affecting the organism towards radiation are to be discussed. This course allows students to understand the safety use of radioactive materials and ionic radiation in research and medicine.
The course encompasses anatomy and histology of the brain and spinal cord; normal functions and abnormalities of various parts of the CNS both at cellular and molecular levels, and various neurotransmitters and their involvements in normal conditions and major clinical disorders. Students will also acquire knowledge of drugs available for treatment of common CNS disorders, including their mechanisms of action, clinical efficacy and limitations.
